Have you been fighting the Instagram algorithm for a while?

You probably already know that it changes all the time and no-one knows exactly how it works.

Yet..

It’s still doable.

You can still make it work.

Get clients.

Connect with other photographers.

Collaborate with other professionals.

And, ultimately, grow or start your photography business.

But how?

Well, here are a few pointers to help you get started:

Stop trying to master every channel.

If you’re going to use Instagram to grow your business, make sure to go all-in. If you’re spreading too thin between Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, you’ll never make it work.

Pick one of them, and be the best at something.

That takes me to the second step.

What are you good at?

If you’re good at creating videos, focus on Reels.
Not only on how you shoot or tips, but also con behind the scenes, before and afters, or anything that can help you pull the curtains of your business for future clients.

Are you good at writing? Create carousels, captions, or tell little stories about your photoshoots or weddings within your stories.

Once you find what you’re great at, here’s THE most important tip for anyone trying to grow any social media account in 2021:

Be consistent.

Here’s what most people fail at. They start with a great idea and do it for 10 days until they see no results. Maybe they try for a month, and then stop. And you know where they go? To the exact same place they were when they started.

Results will take a while.

Days?
Weeks?
Most likely… months.

Months if you’re good at what you do.
Otherwise… if you’re learning as you go, it might take a year or two.

There’s nothing wrong with that.

Remember that building a photography business doesn’t happen overnight. It doesn’t matter how talented you are or how much money you can spend in Ads.

Being profitable as a photographer can take as little as a few months.

But growing an audience on social media?
It’s all about consistency and producing good content on a schedule. It’s not about creativity or being amazing at something. It’s about putting in the time even if you don’t feel like it.

And there’s an easier way to do it, even if you don’t feel like it.

Show your personality

You don’t have to be happy all the time.
Your life doesn’t have to me amazing 24-7.

That’s not something people can relate to.
In 2021, more than ever, people want to connect with real people.

Long gone are the days of posting pictures on Ferraris or plane windows to get likes. We’re not counting likes anymore.

They want the truth.

Be yourself and you will attract the right people for you.
